Gaw | Poe LLP Obtains Six-Figure Settlement for Client

SAN FRANCISCO – March 29, 2017 – Gaw | Poe LLP announced today that it obtained a $117,000 cash settlement on behalf of its client Janet Kassouf in a lawsuit against Allen and Janette Blazick, the primary shareholders of a failed startup called GOphotobooks.com Inc. The dispute arose because the Blazicks induced Ms. Kassouf to invest into and loan money to GOphotobooks.com Inc. by making false representations about who had joined the company as officers and directors, and by making false representations about its cash flow.

The parties reached a settlement in late January 2017 shortly before trial was scheduled to begin, but the Blazicks immediately attempted to renege on their settlement. Gaw | Poe LLP and Ms. Kassouf sought relief with the court, and it issued an order granting her motion to enforce the parties’ stipulation of settlement.

“This case was extremely satisfying for me,” said Gaw | Poe LLP partner Randolph Gaw. “My client was defrauded, and we got the defendants to pay her back. You can’t ask for too much more.”
The lawsuit is captioned Janet Kassouf v. Richard Weaver, et al., No. CGC-14-542194, and was pending in the San Francisco Superior Court. Ms. Kassouf was represented by Gaw | Poe LLP attorneys Randolph Gaw and Samuel Song.
