About Us
Our Story
We win trials. We win appeals. And we do both more efficiently than the large law firms you could hire to get worse results.
Gaw | Poe LLP was founded by Stanford Law School graduates Randolph Gaw and Mark Poe to handle complex antitrust, business, and catastrophic injury litigation. The firm has prevailed in numerous trials, arbitrations, and appeals—achieving more than $93 million in value for their clients, including the 37th largest jury verdict in the United States during the year 2016. In addition, the firm has successfully obtained more than $97 million in value for their clients through settlements in other cases.
At Gaw | Poe LLP, we take pride in following five core principles that form our approach to litigation:
- We are ethical. We believe in zealous advocacy, but we will not compromise our standards of professional responsibility or common decency. This makes us more effective advocates and gives credibility to our clients’ claims and defenses.
- We are candid. We will give frank assessments of the merits of your case and its progress. We will provide our best estimates for budgets instead of providing an artificially low guess designed to win business. We expect our clients to communicate honestly with us and we promise the same in return.
- We are cost-effective. Our attorneys are graduates of elite law schools and/or have years of prior litigation experience with top-ranked law firms. At the same time, our billing rates are comparable to the billing rates charged by large law firms—whom we regularly face—for their inexperienced junior lawyers.
- We take risks. We are not afraid of trials. We employ unconventional strategies that other lawyers don’t even think about. And we will offer to share the risk with our clients. For clients with multimillion-dollar claims, we offer both full and partial contingency fee options.
- We get results. The four principles we’ve identified above would not matter if we didn’t achieve good outcomes. We do.
Prior to starting the firm, Randolph and Mark enjoyed a combined 20 years of experience in handling complex commercial litigation with international law firms O’Melveny & Myers, Morrison & Foerster, and Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. They opened Gaw | Poe LLP with the goal of providing an efficient, hands-on approach to litigation without sacrificing the quality expected of an Am Law 50 firm.
