Summary
Victor Meng is a partner at Gaw | Poe LLP and has been with the firm since 2015. He is a litigator with a range of experience from plaintiff-side catastrophic injury cases to class action defense to criminal prosecution. Mr. Meng has been a first-chair of two different jury trials and has also argued before the California Court of Appeal.
Before joining Gaw | Poe LLP, Mr. Meng was an associate in the litigation department of Morrison & Foerster LLP and represented companies and their directors and officers in securities class actions and shareholder derivative suits, as well as financial institutions in actions challenging foreclosure and loan modification practices. He also served as an Assistant District Attorney at the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office.
Mr. Meng received his J.D. from Loyola Law School, cum laude, where he was a member of the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review. During law school, Mr. Meng served as an extern to the Honorable Dean Pregerson of the United States District Court for the Central District of California. He received his B.A. from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

Representative Engagements
- In re Outlaw Labs Litigation (S.D. Cal.). Counsel for a group of retail stores that were threatened with shakedown demand letters for selling male enhancement products. This nationally publicized case resulted in the dismissal of all claims against the clients and a jury verdict in their favor on RICO counterclaims brought against the law firm orchestrating the scheme. The total amounts awarded to the clients between the jury verdict, a post-trial atttorney’s fees motion, and a separate settlement with the law firm’s client was in excess of $1 million.
- (Confidential). Lead counsel in personal injury lawsuit involving claims that landlord negligently subjected his tenant to prolonged carbon monoxide exposure. Case settled for $1.25 million.
- (Confidential). Counsel in personal injury lawsuit brought by student against school district for debilitating injuries suffered due to negligent supervision by teachers. Case settled for $10 million.
- U.S. Wholesale v. Living Essentials (C.D. Cal.). Trial counsel in jury trial in Robinson-Patman Act jury trial against the maker of the Clear Eyes eye drop product. Though the jury verdict was against the clients, on appeal, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal issued a decision vacating the denial of injunctive relief for the clients based on the factual record developed during the trial.
